The Khubaib Foundation was initiated in 1995 with the vision of creating a civil society focused on supporting prisoner relief, a mission that began individually under the guidance of Nadeem Ahmed Khan, the founding chairman. The organization was named “Khubaib” in honor of Khubaib Ibn Adiyy R.A, a companion of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Khubaib was the first prisoner in the hands of rivals after the formation of the Islamic state, and his steadfastness and martyrdom served as a source of inspiration for subsequent generations of Muslims, embodying the unwavering faith of early Islamic believers.
In 1999, the organization was formally registered under the Trust Act of 1882 and began to focus on key areas such as providing legal aid to prisoners, nutritional support, establishing libraries and computer labs, and offering vocational training programs in prominent jails across Pakistan, including those in Attock, Adyala, Haripur, and Chakwal. The first orphan care program was initiated in 2003 with the support of the Zakat Foundation, and in 2005, the Government of Pakistan officially endorsed the Khubaib Foundation and authorized it to provide orphan care in areas affected by the earthquake. What began with a small team of four individuals has grown to a dedicated workforce of more than 450 people.
