As per PCRWR reports, Water quality in Pakistan did not meet with National Standards for Drinking Water Quality. Their recent research shows that 39% of drinking water sources across the country were safe, whereas 61% of sources were unsafe for drinking that causing waterborne diseases and reducing communities’ health across countries. As per UNICEF reports, an estimated 70 percent of households still drink bacterially contaminated water, and 53,000 Pakistani children under five years die annually due to poor quality of water and sanitation.
Clean water is a fundamental human right, as our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH said, “The best charity (Sadqa – Jaria) is to give water (to drink)’- Ibn Majah. Reliable access to safe and clean water transforms lives in multiple ways. Consequently, the everyday activities of drinking, cooking, and washing no longer present a risk of disease. It also creates ease for women and children from the long, tiring journeys to collect water far away.
