In February 2023, Southern Turkey was struck by two devastating earthquakes, measuring 7.8 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, centered in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş province. The impact extended to neighboring provinces, affecting nearly 16 million people, including 1.8 million Syrian refugees. The toll was tragic, with approximately 50,399 lives lost, 1,200 individuals unidentified after 60 days, and 107,204 injured, marking it as one of the most destructive earthquakes in the region’s recent history. Despite the severity, Khubaib Foundation was already on the ground, conducting relief operations for Syrian refugees.

At least 57,000+ people have lost their lives, more than 115,000+ others severely injured in Turkiye and Syria

To address food requirements, 11 bakeries were established in different parts of affected areas, serving 2,000 individuals daily and creating local employment opportunities. Khubaib Foundation also distributed coal to address the disruption of gas connections, ensuring warmth and the ability to cook food.

The Turkish government expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Khubaib Foundation’s exceptional humanitarian relief efforts and honored them with a token of appreciation for their dedication and selfless service during the devastating earthquake.
